THE IMPORTANCE of CLEAN AIR

FOR THEIR HEALTH

......Air pollution can cause or worsen lung disease, even for people with healthy lungs. The San Diego's Kids for Clean Air Poster is held to increase public awareness and action. This poster contest is a way to get the kids thinking, writing and drawing about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and making small changes which benefit the environment.Through this contest, kids gained knowledge and awareness of air quality issues that affect their community on a daily basis.

......This contest is the end point of a curriculum that is suitable for grades 2 through 8 that describes air pollution, its effect on the body, and how kids can make a difference by creating cleaner air for the planet.

......The Kids for Clean Air Poster Contest in San Diego generated hundreds of entries. This year's artwork was even more amazing than usual, with student-artists displaying not only new messages (such as "no leaf blowers!") but also new urgency.

......The winners have been selected in San Diego's Kids for Clean Air Poster Contest. The eight winners are comprised of first, second, third, and honorable mention in two divisions - the upper division (grades 5-8) and the lower division (grades 2-4). Each of the winners is receiving a gift certificate to Target.

......The kids did their part, but we can hold hands of friends, co-workers, neighboors and do much more. Together we can help everyone breathe easier! Healthy Air Walk bring together people to fight lung disease by cleaning the air we breathe. Every step we take now toward improving air quality gets us closer to a world free from asthma, lung cancer, emphysema and chronic bronquitis.

The San Diego Healthy Air Walk will take place on November 15, 2009 at Embarcadero Marina Park South. The Healthy Air Walk is a fun 3 mile walk suitable for people of all ages who want to improve life, one breath and one step at a time. Registrations are open! Help spread the word!
