Call 2-1-1 For Social Services

For a referral to health or social services in San Diego County, people can now call 2-1-1. This new phone program is available 24 hours a day and covers a broad range of non-emergency service areas, including child care and drug treatment programs.

The 2-1-1 number is expected to be available to a majority of Californians by the end of this year and is already being used in 30 states.

For services related to older adults and persons with disabilities, AIS continues to have its Call Center at (800) 510-2020, but people can call 2-1-1 for information and assistance after general business hours and on weekends. The 2-1-1 service does not handle elder abuse reports, so callers would still want to use (800) 510-2020 any day or night to make a report of elder abuse.
