California Senior Legislature Update
The California Senior Legislature (CSL) selected 10 top state policy
legislative proposals at its annual session in October: tribal gaming funding
for senior centers; hearing aid availability and cost; electronic prescription
writing system; Social Security number identification; increase in disabled
parking spaces; Universal Health Care; oral health in nursing homes; elder and
dependent adult abuse study; In Home Supportive Services background checks; and
property tax exemptions. Four proposals for the federal government included:
Medicare Part B and D funding; prohibition of Social Security number
identifiers; Medicare podiatric preventive care; and opposing privatization of
Social Security.
